Neurotech Reports, the publisher of this newsletter, announced that the ninth annual Neurotech Leaders Forum will be held in Newport Beach, CA October 26-27, 2009. For the first time, this event will be held in conjunction with the NeuroInvestment Conference, which is targeted at representatives of the neuropharmaceutical industry. NI Research, publisher of the newsletter NeuroInvestment, will collaborate with Neurotech Reports on the event.

The first day of the conference will feature in-depth courses in two tracks on basic principles of neurotechnology devices and neuropharmaceuticals. The first day will also feature an afternoon session devoted to specific neurological disorders and therapies, and featuring participation from clinicians and patients in each community. The panel session, moderated by Jennifer French of Neurotech Network, will explore issues affecting individuals with neurological diseases and disorders. Representatives of several neurological disorder communities will present the needs of users, from diagnosis to adjusting to living with a progressive disease. Panelists include Nan Luke of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Greg Thompson, Chief of Social Work at Rancho Los Amigos Rehabilitation Center. In an earlier session Monday afternoon, editors from the Neurotech Business Report and NeuroInvestment newsletters will examine each category of neurological diseases and disorders and offer their insight on the current and future competitive landscape for both drug and device therapies.

The second day of the conference will feature panel discussions in two tracks on topics of interest to the neuropharmaceutical and neurotech device industries. The second day will also feature presentations from startup firms in the industry. MicroTransponder Inc., a developer of implanted wirelsss stimulation systems, and Trigeminal Solutions, a startup firm targeting the migraine market, are two firms that will be presenting.
