CEOs to Make Case for Funding at 2003 Leaders Forum
The CEOs and founders of several start-up and more established neurotechnology
firms are preparing to present their case for investment and business
partnerships during the 2003
Neurotech Leaders Forum in San Francisco, CA on September 9.
The entrepreneurs and executives are expected to argue that the
climate is right for neurotechnology investment and that the market
opportunities created by neurological diseases and disorders are
well served by new devices and techniques.
A special entrepreneurs panel scheduled to take place on the
afternoon of September 9 will feature presentations from several
CEOs making their first appearance at the annual management and
investment conference sponsored by Neurotech Reports, with platinum
sponsorship by Quallion LLC.
These include Alan Olsen, CEO of Robomedica
Inc. in Culver City, CA, Steve Michelson, CEO of Cyclotec
AMT in Lauderhill, FL, Jason Harry, CEO of Afferent Corp. in
Providence, RI, Timothy Surgenor, CEO of Cyberkinetics,
Inc., in Foxborough, MA, and Lee Cuthbert, CEO of Intelli-Scents
in San Francisco, CA. Peter Baillie, CEO of Epic
Biosonics in Victoria, BC, who presented at last years
forum, will present again this year, in an effort to forge business
opportunities for the companys stimulating electrode technology.
Representatives from several venture capital firms and other funding
organizations will be in attendance at the event, including panelists
on a morning session devoted to Neurotechnology Capital Markets.
These include partners and directors from Piper Jaffray Ventures
in San Francisco, CA, NeuroVentures Capital in Charlottsville, VA,
Technology Partners in Palo Alto, CA, and Bay City Capital in San
Francisco, CA.
Jennifer French, executive director of the newly formed organization
Society To Increase Mobility (STIM) [NBR Jun03 p2], will deliver
the keynote address on Neurotechnology: The Users Perspective.
French is one of the first users of an implanted standing/transfer
FES system.
